Are you offering valuable content to your customer?
When thinking about how to write for your business blog, your emails, your web content and even when communicating with the press – it’s important to offer content of value.
“What’s In It For Me?”
That’s what your reader will be asking. They won’t be asking:
“I wonder what X and Y business has been up to lately, I wonder if they’ve won some awards?”
In your clients’ busy lives, why should they read something you put out there? They should read it because you are the expert in your industry. Your communications to them should reflect your expertise and offer them more than they already knew.
Most times, you have the answer to someone’s question. You probably have the answers to many questions your customers have. If you can tap into that way of thinking, and help someone solve a problem, you will provoke action.
Use the great knowledge you have of your industry, to help others. In turn, you will create a great customer, who offers you value in return.
How do you do that?
Firstly, think about what you do well in your business. What problems is your business the solution to? What issues may your customer have that your business has the answers for? These are the topics you should write about.
“But if I offer too much content, I won’t give my customer a reason to call me!” I hear you cry.
Well, fiddlesticks. Can you solve all of the problems in the world just by one blog article? Absolutely not. Should you try to? My word no. But you are in fact trying to attract people with problems you can solve aren’t you? So go write about the solutions with some valuable content!
